fizzybenilyn’s review:
A found footage film where a Most Haunted type show sets up camp in an abandoned asylum and things start to go bump in the night.
The actors do a great job of conveying the arrogance, bravado and fake "expertise" common in these types of shows and the film's first half has some great atmosphere to set up the scares in the second half. When the scares do come they initially work well with most of the threats being invisible or off screen and I felt quite tense and creeped out for a while. However, as soon as the film loses confidence and goes for the cheap CGI mutated face tricks all tension is lost and the ending is utterly predictable.
While it was never going to be the next great horror movie, it's a shame the directors didn't have the courage of their convictions but overall it's decent, if somewhat sillly, Friday night popcorn fare.
