fizzybenilyn’s review:
The missing link between Deliverance and Predator, an amateur bunch of National Guard soliders are on practice manoeuvres in the Louisiana bayou and piss off the local cajuns. Armed only with blank rounds they attempt to fight their way out.
This film doesn't hang around, it only takes 10 minutes for it to get right into the action and from then on the soldiers are always under threat, whether from the cajuns, their own ineptitude or from group in-fighting. The location is stunning and oppressive, it's almost like an alien landscape and the cajuns are only ever glimpses and flashes of colour in the distance which helps keep the threat level up as you never know when they're going to strike next.
Another great Walter Hill film.
