The Vanishing 1988

Ryan’s review:
Wow, I forgot just how unsettling this movie truly is.
Raymond Lemorne has got to be one of the most frightening, brilliant, insane villains in movie history. Hannibal Lecter's got nothing on this guy. And the way the audience finds out his goals and methods and strategy - without resorting to exposition - is simply masterful.
So much has been said about the climax of this film, so I will say no more and let you experience it for yourself. You will not forget it.
Beer: Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier - 3.5/5 (an oldie but goodie!)
Have you had the misfortune of watching the Hollywood remake?
Nope, and I'm going to keep it that way.
A wise move.
Yeah, stay away from the remake (though Jeff Bridges is good as the villain, suitably creepy). I love this movie. So terrifying and dark, yet subtle in its unnerving feel.
Added to watchlist.
This is my favourite horror movie. This is what I deem scary. Yeah, I know, it's not a horror movie and it's not scary per se. But it is if you imagine you are in his shoes and have to make the decision. It's probably why I dislike the horror genre so much. Nothing is as scary to me as this.
Wonderful film that it can keep your attention for so long. I have also never seen, nor want to, the remake and I love the fact you have mentioned the beer consumed. Nice!
Haha, I just had the idea to start keeping track of my beers. I keep track and rate the films, so why not do the same for the beverage? :)
