I'm thinking about choosing the sequence in which Andrew gives up on drumming, from about 1:10 to 1:14. The sequence shows a good example of intercutting. First, we see Andrew talking to the lawyer, reluctant to take legal action against his former teacher. Next, the sequence flashes forward to him watching an old video of himself playing the drums. The sequence cuts back to the conversation with the lawyer, then forward again to Andrew throwing away his old video and…
Another interesting sequence occurs from about 52:30-53:00. There is an elliptical cut from Andrew breaking up with his girlfriend to him pouring ice into the sink. Then, there are a few jump cuts as he scoops the ice and water into a pitcher. The film then shows Andrew playing the drums vigorously, then putting his hand in the pitcher of ice. This sequence is influenced by Godard because it compresses a lot into a short amount of time, using elliptical cuts and jump cuts.
