These are in no particular order and I would put money on it that I’ve forgotten a few films that should probably belong on this list, particularly when there are plenty of films out there that I haven’t even seen for one reason or another.

The biggest surprise of the year for me was ‘Apes which went above and beyond what I’d expected and gave us, the audience, a chance to see what can be done with performance capture.
