A ludicrous concept brought to life in the most bombastic of ways. A little clunky to begin with but once it hits it's stride it is a breathless extravaganza of action. Berg lines up set piece after set piece with the skill of a master craftsman. His direction inducing awe inspiring naval battle choreography. But the film shouldn't be taken too seriously as the tone is firmly tongue in cheek and there is a sense that Berg, his cast and production team are having a ball creating more of a punchline than an answer to the question; Can a bored game like Battleship be made into a film?
