The puerile glee of seeing these action stars together on screen only lasts for the first action scene. After that the film is bogged down with flat "in-jokes", dodgy CGI and a film that has a very inconsistent tone. Sometimes it goes for the tongue in cheeky angle, but others times it takes itself too seriously. It never truly comes together as an action film either as most of the set pieces/fights are quite frankly boring. Stallone's direction is pedestrian and his acting even worse. It should have perhaps been better off revelling in its ridiculousness, but instead the film comes off more like a parody of the films Stallone is attempting to homage. Statham wins by default as he is the only person on screen who has charisma, Jet Li is criminally underused and the rest of the fodder are as forgettable as the films that made them famous. Its biggest sin is that its dull and devoid of any real fun.
