Michel Gondry brings his visual flair to a superhero film with a slight twist. The tone is light and it really suits the narrative. Seth Rogen and Jay Chou are a solid duo with good chemistry. Christoph Waltz does a wonderful job as the main villain. However Cameron Diaz sucks the momentum out of most of the scenes involving her. Also although some of the actions scenes are well choreographed and imaginative, they don't leave an lasting impression. That is the main problem with the film itself. It is fun and easy to watch but doesn't do much to truly capture your attention, making the film pretty background noise.
