Grant Berridge’s review:
This is basically the un-funny pilot for the TV series Girls. It's painfully steeped in self-loathing and ennui, but has no positive or useful message other than “I'm sad, lonely and feel like I have no control over my life”.
There's a consistent theme that Aura (and by extension Her Generation™) simply deserves stuff (whether that stuff is a job, parental affection, security, or a humiliating dry hump with an angry misogynist in a car park). That comes across as cliché self-entitlement in some places, and abject fatalism in others.
This is not a coming-of-age movie about a dispossessed and disaffected generation. This is a movie about a lobotomised girl and her ass-hat friends.
Dull.
Ass-hat friends! Fantastic!
