A very hip "B" movie. I loved the funky soundtrack and Soderbergh's dierection. He directes the shit out of this movie. An action film made for the Art House more than the Cineplex. Soderbergh goes back to his The Limey roots and I couldn't be happier. I think I even dug this more than The Limey.
It ain't on Limey, but it's already a forgotten little gem.
It ain't NO Limey.
I liked this more than The Limey but I loved The Limey also. The Limey is a better film but I had way more fun watching this.
Peter Fonda's summation of the 60s in The Limey is classic.
The garage scene in The Limey is one of the hippest scenes ever filmed. The Limey really needs a good blu-ray release.
This movie is lots of fun, and I love the winter set car chase. Also, this is the film that started my respecting Channing Tatum. I'm now looking forward to Magic Mike. It looks like Tatum's got some moves.
I think one of the reasons I liked this movie so much is that Gina Carano has great "screen presence" (for lack of a better term) which some seasoned actors don't have. Her acting ability has a long ways to go though. I hope she doesn't end up doing a bunch of direct-to-dvd movies though. Female action roles aren't exactly in abundance.
I'm glad you guys liked it, I had some really big problems with it!
I really want to check this film out. Especially since you mentioned The Limey. I love that film, it's fantastic. Terence Stamp is one badass motherfucker.
@Filmape. The winter car chase scene is great. I laughed more in this film than I have in most comedies I've seen recently. It's funny and badass at the same time.
@Mr.DuLac. Carano was great in this role for sure. I'm not convinced she could do many other roles, but she was perfect for this.
@Aaron. This has very much the same feel as The Limey. Terence Stamp's role is way cooler but I had more fun with Haywire(if that makes sense.) This is definately "style over substance" but when I watch an action film I don't really care if there's much substance, as long as there's some badass scenes I'm happy. This one delivers for sure. Check it out!
I will, for sure, can't wait.
