I was actually thinking about the dialogue during the brothel scene just the other day. "There is going to be a war between the blacks and the whites". Great stuff. You should check out The Guard if you find it cheap, or if it ends up on Netflix. It was made by this director's brother, and they definitely have a very similar taste in dialogue and humor. In Bruges however is much better than The Guard in my opinion.
I've been watching this film a lot lately and It's becoming one of my favorites. The dialouge has a Pulp Fiction type quality that makes it more and more funny with each watch. I might have to find a spot for it in my top 100. I just watch aguirre again. Man that's a trippy movie. It's in my top 100 but I think I'm going to kick it out to make room for In Bruges as I can't watch Aguirre very often. I know it's kind of sacreligious to the cinefile crowd to swap Aguirre for In Bruges but fuck em' I LOVE In Bruges.
So many films that I need to rewatch. Both In Bruges and Aguirre have been begging for a rewatch for some time now. I wish the government would pay me to stay home and watch movies.
We'll have to figure out how we can get a grant so we can stay home and watch movies all day. That's one sweet thing about the courier job because when I'm not getting calls I have to stick around so I'll I do is watch movies. I'm stoked for Melancholia tomorrow.
I have seen Melancholia Aaron. It comes out on Blu-Ray today so I'm stoked for that. I thought it was one of the best films of the year. I ranked it at number 3 behind The Tree of Life and Drive. Kirsten Dunst is great in this and I love the "dread" aspect of the film. The opening 8 minutes is one of the best film sequences I've ever seen. Great film! I wonder if Lars Von Trier didn't shoot himself in the foot at cannes, if this would have been more honored. Not that I give a shit about the oscars but Dunst in particular should have been nominated. I thought this was a suprisingly accessible film for von trier. It should really find a bigger audience(I get that few people saw antichrist, which I also loved.)
So well-written.
Yeah the dialouge is great. "You've got to stick to your Principles". So badass!

You haven't seen Melancholia yet? I'd love to hear what you think. Such an interesting film.

Oh, yeah, sorry, I had seen that actually. Didn't have it quite as high on the year-end but still enjoyed it. It looked amazing.
And would definitely agree on Dunst. Her best performance.
Have you seen Marie Antoinette Aaron? She was great in that too.
I have actually, really enjoyed it. Many people didn't, as far as I know?
