I don't quite have the "fanboy" love for this that a lot of people seem too have but It's definitely a fun sci-fi actioner.

I saw the movie when it came out and very much enjoyed it.
A few years later, I watched Firefly, and enjoyed that even more.
Now, I don't enjoy Serenity as much as I did before. It feels like watered-down, condensed Firefly to me, which is kinda disappointing after seeing the real thing.
I've been meaning to get around to Firefly.
It's pretty awesome. Great writing and great characters. It's not groundbreaking or spectacular, but what it does, it does extremely well. And it's fun. :)
I use it as a prelude to getting people into Battlestar Galactica - the true champion of sci-fi television, and one of the greatest shows of all time.
You should have watched Firefly before the movie :(
Wow I was literally just about to review this. I love this way more than you do but I think you probably would have liked it more if you had watched Firefly and gotten to know the characters a little more before watching Serenity.
I think watching Serenity first is really the way to go.
Let the movie stand on its own merit so it can be judged objectively.
Just my view, of course. :)
I've been meaning to check out Battlestar Galactica. I haven't seen a second of it but have heard nothing but good things.
Battlestar Galactica (we are talking about the remake, right?) is awesome, go check it out. A lot of people don't like the last season and the conclusion, personally I think it's great. Sadly the prequel series Caprica didn't turn out to be a success.
Cool guys thanks for the Battlestar Gallactica recommendations,
Yes, the new version of BSG is fantastic. I thought the first season was easily the weakest, but if you can make it to the season finale episode, the rest is absolutely golden.
