We Need to Talk About Kevin 2011
Watched May 30, 2012
grooveman’s review:
Easily my least favorite film I've seen this year. The most heavy handed piece of pretentious crap I've seen since Paul Haggis's Crash. Every Character is one note. Tilda Swinton is good but she's always good so I could care less. This film is just watching a little fucker act like a little fucker for 2 hours with shitty out of place music thrown in for dramatic effect. Fuck This Film!!!
Sweet, next time you see me I'll be carrying cash. I'll probably rewatch Kevin and hate it though and the joke will be on me.
@Filmape. Deal!!
Do not want to watch this, looks terrible. It looks like the biggest downer of a movie.
I'll be watching this probably Friday. From what I can tell everyone's main issue is that it's bleak, but I personally don't mind that in a film. I guess I'll see for myself.
I agree that this film is incredibly overrated but it actually plays much better if you view it as a pitch black comedy. Suddenly it feels less obsessed with its own pretension and becomes the most entertaining killer child movie since The Omen.
@Aaron. You'll do yourself a favor by skipping this.
@Ron. I'd like to hear your thoughts.
@Chuck. I new about the dark comedy going in and I still found it horrible. I honestly don't remember the last film I've hated this much. Most film's I think I'll hate I avoid so I don't see to many I outright hate. The Stallone film Eye See You is a contender but that is a shitty action movie. This film is a critically acclaimed drama so for that I think this can be crowned the shittiest film I've seen.
@grooveman, thanks for the heads up!
@Aaron. No problem!
I completely understand how you feel. The comedy elements don't make it a good film, they just make it easier to get through as opposed to the self-serious, navel gazing dreck you'd be left with otherwise.
@Chuck. Two days later and I'm still pissed I watched this. Luckily Filmape bought this of me.
