The Man from Earth 2007 ★½

Watched Aug 10, 2012

The dialogue filled, single setting narrative boasts an interesting concept, but it's content is not as intelligent as it desperately wishes to be.

The cheap actors in this low budget production fail to capture their intellectual characters and deliver them with any realism.

  • I saw this a year ago, and I have to say, it did work for me, even do I can't remember the details exactly, i was satisfied with the plot and the outcome.. that only shows how opinions chance from one to another :)

  • Yeah exactly man, it's all opinion at the end of the day. I went into this with relatively high hopes, seeing lots of positivity on the site for it. Unfortunately I found all of the 'intellect' a tad contrived and the acting wooden.

  • I completely understand where you are coming from, some times I'am afraid to see a film that is been hype up, because the only place it can go is down..

  • Just goes to show whether the film is actually worth the acclaim or not from a retrospective view.

  • Totally agree about the acting, but for me it didn't spoil the experience. It's not one I'll probably ever watch again but I'm on the side of people who liked it :)

  • That's fair Neil. The concept was decent enough, so I can understand why you'd like it. I just didn't think, for a film that's all dialogue, that the dialogue was actually any good. It's not helped that the execution of it by the cast was poor.
