That Kind of Girl 1963 ★½

“That Kind of Girl” is similar to the educational videos shown in seventh grade health class. There is some cinematic entertainment thrown in, but the overall vibe screams, “PREMARITAL SEX IS BAD!” Margaret Rose Keil, a constant in trashy Italian cinema over the sixties and seventies, is perfect as Eva. She is beautiful and looks innocent, but her sex appeal is hard to ignore. She is exposed to many avenues of life and makes decisions that viewers will relate to. Unfortunately for Eva, the consequences of her actions far outweigh the joys of the experience. Though “That Kind of Girl” can be heavy handed at times with its message, there are a few life lessons to be found. General education about sex typically covers preventative measures. Where does this leave those who have already contracted a disease? Eva faces her dilemma with textbook responses, even if they are cloaked in a toned down exploitation fare.
