Upstream Color 2013
Too vague for me to find any enjoyment. Undeniably strong visuals but I felt it lacked a unique style to differentiate it from any other low budget production. I can appreciate the potential for others' experiences, it just wasn't my cup of tea.

Side Effects 2013
A heavy handed first half that quickly spirals into a convoluted villainous romp. Stretched for convenience, but when you're along for the ride switching off works for the better.
-
Quicksilver 1986
Bacon, Fishburne, Raleighs, trading montages and an omnipresent drug dealer set in San Francisco, oh wait no, that's LA…and now New York.
Better enjoyed as a music video.
-
Our Idiot Brother 2011
An attractive cast with ugly characters, mehness abound.
-
Highlander 1986
If I'd been transported to the 80s as a pubescent teenager it's possible this would've piqued my interest, however watching it now it's just a bit shit.
-
In Time 2011
Still confused if this was set in LA or an alternate universe that consists of matryoshka timezones.
With lines like "Just once I want to wake up with more time on my hand than hours in the day" it makes you wonder why the writers' didn't claim pun bingo, clock out and simply title it Just-in Time.
-
Captain America: The First Avenger 2011
On par with flat Fanta.
This and Thor make the Avengers look more and more like a future episode of Burger King bartending — all fizz and swampy aftertaste.

Midnight in Paris 2011
Owen Wilson drops some Valium and becomes a time travelling flaneur. Film peaks with McAdams loading luggage and a serious case of white man overbite.
