The Avengers 2012
Joss Whedon hit absolutely all the right notes. The Avengers is up there with the The Dark Knight at the pinnacle of comic book adaptations.

The Dark Knight Rises 2012
Still speechless. Will try to collect right words to describe feeling after watching one or two more times.

We did a review of the film on our comic book podcast Tres Komikeros. If you have about an hour to spare, you can check it out here:
treskomikeros.com/2012/07/25/tk-110-the-dark-knight-rises/I still haven't settled on a written review, and probably won't until I've seen it at least once more.

Prometheus 2012
The film is greater than the sum of its parts, despite many of its parts being terribly weak.

21 Jump Street 2012
Okay, I heard that this film got pretty good reviews and that it's really funny, but I still went into it expecting to be disappointed. Boy, was I wrong. This was TONS of fun. I was grinning like an asshole all throughout. I was never a big fan of Channing Tatum before but he was the biggest surprise for me. Who knew he was this effective in comedy? Great comedy, smart action, and more than a few surprises. Loved it!

John Carter 2012
Deeply flawed. Lots of fun.

Warrior 2011
Gives MMA a strong cinematic mythology. Warrior neither judges nor glamorizes the sport, but focuses strongly on character. Backed by superb performances from Nolte and Hardy, and a bravado perfomance from Joel Edgerton as the struggling high school physics teacher who decides to reenter the cage. A story of redemption, forgiveness, and the competitive soul, Warrior is the modern-day Rocky.

Martha Marcy May Marlene 2011
It's a wonder how great Elizabeth Olsen's performance in this movie is and how it wasn't nominated for an Academy Award.

The Woman in Black 2012
Classic haunted house flick. Nothing new or groundbreaking but it boasts a perfectly creepy atmosphere with a solid performance from Radcliffe. Definitely worth checking out for horror fans.
