The Lincoln Lawyer 2011

Charlotte Gregory’s review:
I still maintain this is a solid, entertaining film. Great performance from McConaughey and good to see him in a dramatic role again. He plays a Los Angeles criminal defence lawyer (and therefore is slightly morally suspect albeit charismatically likeable) who operates out of the back of his Lincoln car, defending lowlifes... until rich playboy Ryan Phillipe comes along with the case of a lifetime. The setting of LA is vital; not the glossy Hollywood side of LA, but the seedy underbelly. Think Chinatown or Raymond Chandler; the gritty reality. Brilliant supporting cast with Marisa Tomei, William H. Macy and John Leguizamo. Fast-paced from start to finish by director Brad Furman, it's also worth checking out his previous film "The Take".
This was better than it had a right to be. McConaughey should only play lawyers in films.
