The characters in this film are almost impossible to empathize with, even as they go about their relatable search for meaning and love, simply because they do not speak or act in a way that is recognizably human. But I do admire Honore's intent and, regardless of your sexual preference, you won't have to look hard for eye candy. Considering its extreme content, "Ma Mere" likely registers as a 'must see' for fans of transgressive or taboo-breaking cinema.
