One of the few classic Hammer movies that I hadn't previously watched. Definitely liked it. Must admit though there were moments when some of the performances (e.g. that guardian) undeniably ticked over into laughable hystrionics (something highly unusual for Hammer as a general rule). I really liked the way some of the characters were depicted (the cowardly but outwardly successful father and his relationship with the wife, Michael Ripper). Maggie Kimberley was fantastic! Really sorry she didn't do more. And Catherine Lacey is always a treat. Unfortunately it was the last Hammer movie to be shot in Bray. An era had come to an end.
