Chris Ward’s review:
Out of the three major superhero movies this summer, this ranks as the third best. Although another origin story was unnecessary, as a whole this film was better than the Raimi Spider-Man although the whole Uncle Ben shooting could have been done better.
The cast were all better than in the Raimi series, with the exception of Sally Field as Aunt May which didn't work, but overall it was good but not great and not a patch on Avengers Assemble or The Dark Knight Rises (Sorry Adam, but I'm right).
No you are not....for many reasons, Spiderman was a more solid film than TDKR and the Avengers. Depends what you want out of a Super hero movies, either fun and heroics or long drawn out plots that make you hate the heroes that you are supposed to be rooting for. I wanted Bane to kill Batman, I didn't really care if the Avengers saved the day, but I did care about Spiderman and wanted to see him win his battle. Nolan has done a great job with the Batman series, even with Bale destroying most of the good work. Bane was a happy surprise from the Batman series and he saved the final film. You are right in your own head and i respect that, but I think the complex story lines maybe distracting your judgment (Chris you know i am right, do not let my long winded writings distract your judgment).
Me. Right. End of.
No. This could go on for a while!!!!!
On a different topic. I watched The Tall Man last night (the new film from the director of Martyrs). You should check it out, it has more twists than a Alton Towers ride. really good, right up your alley. Intense, scary and gritty....
I shall add it to the list. Martyrs was by far the best horror film of the last decade.
In a contrast to Martyrs there is a very small use of gore, which demonstrates the diversity of the director. Martyrs needed the gore and violence to tell the story. The Tall man needs little gore and violence to be both unsettling and also enlightening.
I have emailed you a present, enjoy....
