This Must Be the Place 2012
I totally love Paolo Sorrentino - I think he's painted some of the most beautiful films of the last 10 years. This was possibly not up the standards of Consequences of Love / The Family Friend / Il Divo, but that is an insanely high standard to measure up to. Contains two absolutely perfect moments, and a lot of almost perfect moments. Highly recommended.

Enemy at the Gates 2001
I've a soft spot for the "story of individuals against a broad canvas" thing. And this is undeniably an interesting story, although Wikipedia suggests it's a fair bit sexed up. But a better than average war movie.

We Need to Talk About Kevin 2011
You know, it often occurred to me that I might not get on with my son (this was before he was born). It seems entirely possible - I'm not very good at talking to children anyway, I can't seem to get that balance of enthusiasm without sounding insane. Some people are really good at it, the bastards.
So this film really struck a chord with me. What about the possibility that this new person that arrives just isn't the bundle…
