Jim's 100 Favorite Movies
not a list of the "best" in terms of what most would consider to be great examples of a great movie. save that for AFI. these are my own 100 personal favorites that pretty much change every year. it's a really tough call between The Apartment and Paris, Texas as being my all-time favorite. It might depend on the day. the first ten are pretty much my top ten favorites, while the rest are in no particular order.
Awesome list man! Great mix of things,. some heavy-hitter critical favs and some very personal favs I can tell (Joe Versus the Volcano ;). Amazing to see The Tree of Life and The Assassination of Jesse James, they would both make my list for sure. Speaking of which, I should probably make my own sometime soon.
Thanks Ross. I love seeing what everyone considers to be their favorites, condensed in a list. I'm sure there are many more that would be contenders and/or this list changes pretty much every year as we all know
Great list with a good mix of things! Love to see Dog Day Afternoon on any list. Also, just wanted to say I really enjoy the show. Look forward to every new show!
Thanks Aaron! That means a lot. Do keep in touch, and again, I really appreciate the kind words about the list and the show!
I enjoy your podcast, so it is very interesting and fun to peruse this list. There are some here that I haven't heard of or seen, so I might be doing more adding to my rapidly expanding watch list. Good to see Fearless up there. I don't love all of Peter Weir's movies. But the ones I do, like Fearless, I think are awesome! Aren't you glad Robert Zemeckis is returning to live-action? I'm looking forward to his episode and Joe Dante's.
For sure, Jim!
@Steven: Totally happy to see that Zemeckis is going back to live-action with FLIGHT. I have a good feeling about that one, based on the trailer. It almost looks like it could have a Fearless-esque quality to it, though I'm not sure anything will ever come close to matching the emotional intensity that Weir captures. Thanks for the support and the thoughtful comment! I'm also working on an interview / bonus episode featuring Joe Dante himself! Hope it pans out
