Christina’s review published on Letterboxd:
I enjoyed this classic Western from Howard Hawks staring John Wayne, Montgomery Clift, Walter Brennan, John Ireland and many more recognizable faces despite the annoying woman.
Good: Wayne proves his acting skills here and his complex character makes you root for him and against him at the same time. I loved the scene between Clift and Ireland as they showed off their gun skills to prove who is better.
Bad: The female character is annoying and I hated how she got shoved in the story to solve the conflict.
Meh: Clift and Ireland were set up to have a rivalry but that went away fast.
