Paul Wood’s review published on Letterboxd:
Often hailed as one of the most successful Trek movies, Voyage Home finds our fugitive crew forced to travel back in time to 1985.
While the contemporary setting probably helped to make things more accessible to a general audience, I do find it to be a double edged sword at times.
Yes, seeing the 23rd Century characters struggle to understand the customs of their 20th Century ancestors does have a certain wit and charm, delivering some genuinely funny moments, but things do become a little stretched, the puns and quips a tad grating.
By the time we return to 23rd Century it does come with a certain amount of relief.
However with its silly plot and solid performances from actors who by this point know their characters inside and out, this is a fun romp that always makes me smile.
