It's been years since I've seen this and it was wonderful to discover that it holds up extremely well. The script is taut, the action thrilling and tense.

Went so serious, sir?
These attempts to make Poirot stories very serious and dark feel misplaced. I was left wondering why there was a need to adapt the story again - I'm not sure this adds to the canon of Christie adaptations. I did enjoy the performances - Emma Mackey in particular.

The Ides of March 2011
Very good cast, well acted, and a sharp script in terms of dialogue (I wasn't surprised to see that it was originally a play though its roots fortunately weren't apparent in the film), but perhaps nothing that we've not seen before in political dramas; a key plot turn happened and I had to think 'really? You picked something that obvious?' Was reminded of parts of 'Primary Colours' from back in the 90s - does Hollywood feel we need these movies every ten years or so? Ah well.
