Had no idea what I was getting into. Told by a friend that I "had to watch it" and refused to tell me why. I think I'm glad he didn't tell me... I think. lol
A punch to the stomach in the whole runtime, when you watch it a second time. If you know the cruel plot twist, you simply cannot suffer more with a character.
I'd like to tell you it gets better over time, but sadly no it'll haunt you for the rest of your life. I'm thinking of starting a support group for people who watch old boy for the first time.
One of the biggest WTF endings there has ever been. Blew me away back when I first saw it (about 7 or 8 years ago), and it still has that effect on me now, despite already knowing how it ends. And the hammer fight sequence is all kinds of awesome.
I will be "haunted" by the utter idiocy of the "narrative" for a few hours I guess. Luckily the accompanying massive boredom passed quickly once the movie was over!
Espen: I just took a quick look at the movies you reviewed and gave a higher rating then Oldboy... I wouldn't be making fun of anyone's reviews if I were you.
Espen: I think you'll be "haunted" by the fact that you can't delete that comment because it says more about the caliber of person you are then what Jaime's taste in movies is.
Jaime you'd probably like Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance and Lady Vengeance. From the same director and part of the so-called "Vengeance Trilogy", but just don't expect the same movie as Oldboy otherwise you might end up being disappointed.
Oh do come on; why so serious? I do think Oldboy is a greatly overrated movie, and I did not make fun of the "review" (I am not sure saying that an ending will stick with you classifies as a movie review for that matter) - I made a comment on it that was intended light-heartedly. I do assume these review comments are not solely for the purpose of expressing agreement with the review. If that says something about the "caliber of my person" (?) then so be it.
The ending certainly is a punch in the stomach isn't it, probably the most effective and memorable of all time for me.

You're welcome lol
A punch to the stomach is a good way to describe it's ending.

You can disagree with what she said, but don't make fun of her review. It's a classless move on your part.

I found Mr. and Lady Vengeance on Netflix... I also see Thirst by the same director... all three good?
J, I think you'd like Thirst - To say why would ruin half the fun of watching it though, but I think it would be right up your alley.
What about I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK? That looks different lol
That one... uh... it's hard to recommend that one. Liked it, but it's really out there.
I'm a Cyborg is weird... I think you'd like it lol.
I loved I'm a Cyborg, but it's not for everyone... but again, I think it's weird enough that it would be right up your alley lol
Out of all the movies you guys named I had to watch I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK because it sounded so damn weird. I loved it! lol
