Gilliam's surreal, Kitchen Sink style has never appealed to me. His forcefully emotive aesthetics, as impressive as they can be, are just overwhelming, while his characters feel more like shallow audience representatives of the audience than real human begins. Sadly, this film didn't change my mind on Gilliam.
