"It's not about power, its about reaching out to people, touching people, GROPING PEOPLE."
So much better than the first Batman! Danny Devito steals the show as The Penguin, maybe just because I've never really seen that villain in a film before but he was creepy as hell with a nice emotional backstory. The dialogue was really well written and funny, and the world of Gotham is dark, comical and very 'Burton'.
I am a Nolan's Batman man through and through, but still, this was excellent.
You have quoted what is, without a doubt, one of my all time favorite movie lines. Devito's delivery of it is amazing. I try to use it in my regular speech often, although sadly, it doesn't apply as much as I would like.
Good review and it would have been interesting if Keaton and Burton carried on working together. I have watched many interviews where Keaton has always expressed his sadness about not continuing with the Batman series. He wanted to take it to darker places then, before Nolan even looked at the franchise. Keaton was and is the best Batman, so far........ The reboot will be interesting to see who else will come to the table.
What's surprising about Keaton's Batman is remembering the immense hatred and bile that was poured out on him when his casting was first announced. No one could imagine that Mr. Mom could pull it off. I always thought he did an amazing job.
