Jason Panella’s review:
A bit too long, a bit underacted, and weirdly uneven in its pacing. But hey, I still couldn't help but like the movie. I think Eastwood is a consistently uneven director, but the spots that work here work well. Jolie sort of just stumbles (or rollerskates) from scene to scene, but the script carries most of the weight. The supporting cast is also pretty one-note, but they serve well to push the plot along (except maybe Jeffrey Donovan, who can't decide what sort of Irish accent he wants). I liked how the movie just does what it does and moves on. I guess that sort of sums up Eastwood's directing ethos, and it works in this case.
