Jay Cheel’s review:
A "classic" piece of Canadian cinema that finds an aggressive hockey player and a "peace & love" folk singer forging unlikely relationship. The film works as a curiosity, but otherwise is really cheesy and poorly written. Hockey fans should take note though, as the NHL had a hand in this thing and the film features some pretty good early 70's on-the-ice sequences. Worth checking out just for the historic/curiosity factor.
While it may not be as classic as their parody of Goin' Down the Road, SCTV did a really funny spoof of this movie: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmV_tyYYp0g
Yeah, that's included as a bonus feature on the blu ray.
I thought I might like this more than you since I love hockey but no, you pretty much had this one pegged right on.
