50/50 is a bold and refreshing comedy about an incredibly tough subject and proves that even in 2012 its tough to joke about cancer. On one end the best kind of medicine is laughter even in the gravest of situations but balancing on screen a charming romantic comedy with the effects of a cancer patient is unpleasant at best. Joseph Gordon Levitt once again proves that his range and growth has been a rewarding one and he gives one of his most fragile and beautiful performances to date. The supporting cast, which includes Seth Rogen as the perfect best friend is uplifting at best. It is still a tough pill to swallow and Levitt's sense of frustration in his personal life coupled with his fear of death makes it a very uncomfortable watch but a rewarding one at best.
