A Serious Man 2009
So I watch "A Serious Man", Joel & Ethan Coen's ode to mid-Western, 1967, Jewish life. For me, Coen brother movies are either some of my favorite movies (Blood Simple, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Miller's Crossing, Raising Arizona, Fargo) or some of my least favorite movies (Barton Fink, The Man Who Wasn't There). Red 2010
Just finished watching the last 2/3rds of "Red", the kinetic, over-the-top, over-the-hill gang action movie, featuring Bruce Willis, John Malkovic, Helen Mirren and Mary-Louise Parker. It was pretty fun although quite ridiculous. It sure seems like they were having a blast making the movie. A couple cool movie tricks (like when Malkovic shot the RPG coming at him, causing a back blast that took out the shooter) raised this up a little. Enjoyable waste of time, I guess.
