Fear in the Night 1947

Jeremy Heilman’s review:
A legitimately frightening film noir, with style to spare. The overwhelming predictability of the plot only mildly defuses the tension, which is abundant. The amnesiac crime story here is used to barely conceal what is an exercise in homosexual angst. Even more than Hitchcock's Spellbound, this offers a Freudian nightmare run amok.
