good in a cheesy sort of way.

  • Transformers: Age of Extinction 2014

I can't believe i got sucked in again! I said nevermore after the last one, but the trailers got me. Unfortunately, the trailer visuals is about all that is good in this movie. Not as horribly bad as the last two, but still very bad. About a combined 15 good minutes of movie, and at least I laughed once.

It's my own fault - never again (at least in the theater), for real this time.

really bad. the first hannibal movie/show that I have ever disliked.

  • Red Riding: In the Year of Our Lord 1974 2009

    ★★★★½ Rewatched 02 Jun, 2014

All of the atmosphere, dread, and despair of HBO's True Detective (first season) distilled into 100 minutes, with a little more satisfying ending. Did I mention atmosphere??

  • Godzilla 2014

    ★★★★½ Watched 17 May, 2014

Fulfilled the promise that I had in my heart for the 1998 movie - which almost completely crushed my soul.

Thank you, Gareth Edwards, for restoring my faith.

  • The 36th Chamber of Shaolin 1978

    kung-fu classic.

To me - this movie is 10 times the movie that Captain America 2 is. Why? There are a few reasons. Obviously, these aren’t facts – just my subjective experience.

    1. Photography. Okay I am exaggerating a little bit about this being 10 times as good, but it does look 10 times better than Winter Soldier. Not just the expansive cityscapes (which - while beautiful - were a little overdone), but even the framing of the dialogue scenes was light…

Can I have some of what they were smoking?

A James Bond fever dream. What can you really say about Moonraker? It's absurd, interesting, and bizarrely compelling. At least it looks like they spent a lot of money.

    Boom!

As I am working my way through the James Bond blu-ray set, I "realized" that none of the Bond movies would equal "From Russia with Love" until we got to Daniel Craig's Bond films.

    I was dead wrong.

The Spy Who Loved Me is every bit as good as From Russia, though a different kind of movie. FRWL is a darker espionage thriller. TSWLM is spontaneous and kinetic - constant action, constant threat, and constant fun. It fulfills the…

  • The Man with the Golden Gun 1974

    ★★★ Watched 19 Apr, 2014

Film #9 - As I work my way through the Bond films, I rank this on par with Goldfinger, although I give Goldfinger the slight edge.

This may be the best looking Bond film to date - I like the aesthetic of the 70s as it meshes with the far east - it just hots a sweet spot visually for me. I think this appreciation carried me through a dose of pretty standard Bond fare. Well, that visuals and Roger…

Nice little film. Too bad it'll probably spawn 10 shitty sequels.

  • Transcendence 2014

Silly. llogical. Uninspired. Unambitious. Bland. Boring. I will never watch this movie again.

To be honest, I'm just glad everyone else hates it too. After Captain America last week, I would have lost my mind if everyone liked this movie.
