Here's a baker's dozen thoughts on this most inept of adaptations:

1. The sound mix for the special effects hurts my ears. I realized this in the first second of the movie.
2. The kid playing Sokka has the rhythm of old school martial arts dubs. Also, someone should have inserted "[JOKE]" next to all of his dialogue. I don't think he can tell. Most of what he does is tell his sister to stay away from things, though, so…

This has to be the strangest film to stick in the popular consciousness. Ever. A 2-hour-plus odyssey (sorry) through the beginnings of evolution, through space computer maintenance and finally inside I-don't-know-the-mind-or-something? This is a legendary sort of narrative cacophony that today would probably be banished to arthouses and film buffs or midnight screenings and cult fandom. This one, though, gets mostly reproduced over the course of several seasons of The Simpsons.
