The Great Gatsby 2013
It's hard for me to even begin to review this. I'll start by saying that The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite books, and I hold F. Scott Fitzgerald on a very high pedestal. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind 2004
This is one of my favorite movies. Charlie Kaufman's screenplays rarely ever disappoint me, and this is him at his most emotionally striking. Jim Carrey is one of those comedic actors whose underlying melancholy shines in dramatic roles. Also worth mentioning are Jon Brion's score and the nuanced cinematography that successfully makes you feel like you're taking a journey through someone's memories. A beautifully sad, quirky love story that's full of both regret and hope.
