I love classic sci-fi, unique horrors, retro visuals, neo-noir, psychological thrillers, apt soundtracks and Scarlett Johansson's voice.

Dune: Part Two 2024
Spectacular in nearly every way, this is easily one of the best sci-fi films ever made. The scale of everything and the stunning visual design is breathtaking. I did struggle a bit with the script in this though, and the dialogue was pretty bad throughout, with really out of place writing and characterisation taking me out of the experience on numerous occasions. That’s genuinely my only issue with the film but did put a dampener on it. Also want to…

Poor Things 2023
A dazzling philosophical head trip with a mesmerising, career -defining performance from Emma Stone. The sets and costumes were some of the most beautiful I've seen on film, and the cinematography made everything seem simultaneously eye-searingly tangible and utterly impossible. My favourite Lanthimos film by a long way (no mean feat), and something I'll certainly be watching many times. Loved every second of this!

Midsommar 2019
A dazzling, sickening and reflective movie that stunned me as much in its production as it did in its thematic depth. Midsommar has some of the best modern practical effects I've seen, clever and dynamic cinematography and a constant, overbearing dread cut with nervous laughs, which are never out of place. Everything builds at such a deliberate, steady pace, keeping the weirdness and shock factor at the forefront sporadically as if to pull you back from the daydream/nightmare and remind…
