John Warrender’s review:
Sir Ridley of Scott returns to sci-fi with the boom of an orchestra in full orgasmic flow. This is not the filmmaker who once prized stillness or elegance, but his craft is still impressive. Derided as pockmarked with plotholes and inconsistencies, there's a good chance this is smarter than it first appears; many second-time viewers have already reported an improved experience, though I suspect that's as much because the heavy expectations have evaporated by then. For much much much longer thoughts, here's my stupidly, offensively long review...
...but be warned, it's basically one enormous spoiler.
