The Thing 2011
In a way, I genuinely wanted to like this, even with it being a typical modern remake (or 'prequel' in this case). However, it just offered very little flair, both on its own and in comparison to its predecessor, like that of a delinquent son to a successful father. It makes an effort, but drops the ball; said ball deflates a little, too.

House on Haunted Hill 1959
With a plot that is emulated and even parodied time and time again, House most certainly solidifies the traditional horror form, filled with atmosphere, tension, and intrigue; and of course, no matter what, Price always manages to wrap around an eerily quirky character with ease. With only a 75-minute running time, this is a rather short and sweet entry.
