If anyone can:

A) Tell me one thing that would count as "romantic" in this supposed romantic comedy, or;

B) How gross invasions of privacy and stalking is funny AND get you the girl. SERIOUSLY, THAT PREMISE!!!...

Then I will give this movie another full star. Otherwise, it remains a gross, bizarre piece of shit. A "romantic action comedy" that isn't any of those things...what the hell is this movie? Its "romance" is creepy (to say the least), its action is utterly fucking atrocious and its comedy is weakly amusing at best.

And McG? To sum up, as Scott Tobias puts it: "pouring on the douchey hipness and charm only makes things worse." Easily one of the worst directing jobs of the year as the film is basically just a bunch of hastily put together vignettes bookmarked by shitty action sequences. This movie fades to black...multiple times for little reason other than McG didn't have a better way to move on (and helpfully inserted commercial breaks for the inevitable TV premiere). Ugh.

It's a shame too, because I like all three of these leads. Hardy, particularly seems out of his element. Pine plays the stereotypical douchbag playboy, while Witherspoon...oy, Reese. She can do this stuff in her sleep (and hes been for the last decade-plus). Chelsea Handler isn't horrible, but is over-the-top, while Angela Basset is easily one of the most underutilized roles of the year. Seriously, she does nothing.
