The 3 stars are mainly for the acting and the period detail...Also kudos to the direction. But this film feels like an exercise in depression and pointlessness. I suppose I understand why the director felt the need to make this, but really, what was he trying to say?
Will say that DiCaprio's acting was amazing, maybe his best work in my opinion. I still sometimes feel he looks a little young for some of his parts, but damn if he isn't usually able to pull it off.
