My first experience of going to the cinema and seeing a 3D film... nothing has come close to how well this was done in that format (gimmick or not). Movie itself wasn't bad, but it certainly was over rated. Pocahontas in on another planet does indeed describe the story.
Exactly. In my humble opinion, a good movie can't consist solely of visual effects. If "you have to watch it in 3D to appreciate how good it is" then it already is a failure. A movie should consist of a powerful story, well told, with well developed characters and great acting. Everything else comes to enrich that experience, but should take a secondary role.
Visual (and audio) effects should be there to make the story believable. Obviously, if it's a science fiction film, they become quite important, but they can't be the only thing.
Oh, I doesn't agree with you. Personally, I didn't want to spend my money and time watching this, but most part of the people I know didn't like this film. Nor even those who aren't exactly cinephiles.

I don't*
Sorry.
@Walter, what exactly don't you agree with?
That this is the most overrated movie of all times. :P I still think that Blade Runner is the one.
