Quite possibly the dumbest film I will see all year, and I've watched Dark Shadows. Boring plot, forgettable performances, banal characters and utterly pointless direction leads to a clear favorite for worst movie of the year.
It should also be mentioned that in spite of all that the Blake Lively voice over narration is truly a glorious sight to hear, as her character is quite possibly the least intelligent and most vapid character ever created. The obviously highlight comes when she describes how one of her two boyfriends likes to try and fuck the Iraq War out of his mind when he fucks her. "I have orgasms, he has wargasms." Though a solid runner up is when she talks about her difficult childhood, "I like to think I am in a twelve step-father program."
I've seen the inside of her head, and good God, its full of stars.
Really!? That's too bad. It sort of looked like Blow meets Domino - two movies I really like mashed into one.
So probably a double-dose of awful on Saturday (Spidey and this).

I went in with zero expectations so it was tough to be disappointed by it, but I always forget how awful a writer Stone is and how he can never resist shoving his voice into the film, no matter how awkward, obvious and utterly stupid it is.
While I totally agree about Blake Lively (that opening narration is God awful), that shit only lasts the first ten minutes of the movie. Once that stuff is gone, it's pretty much over the top fun from there on out. Forgettable performances? I think these are some of the better performances you're going to get from these people; especially in a film like this. I though Del Toro was great, I thought Aaron Johnson was pretty great and I even think Travolta was pretty awesome once I warmed up to his character.
