This was at least my second attempt to get through this movie (fell asleep before), and I really shouldn’t have bothered. The blurb may say it’s not a movie about September 11th, but it is. And the worst kind, at that — contrived, trying waaay too hard, and blatantly capitalizing. There was no need to even make mention of 9/11 — the ‘origin story’, the death of Oskar’s father, could’ve been due to any random act of senseless violence. But…

A pity that the bulk of the movie-going public can be so blinded by hype as to be rendered completely incapable of recognizing terrible film-making, even when it's stared them in the face for 165 minutes.
