A very predictable ride through the ascension of the apes. The movie moved at a decent pace, but stalled a little during the middle when it just seemed like a depressing tale of how Caesar became Caesar. James Franco doesn't really help the plot at all. There's very little emotion from him, and I feel the movie would've been better suited with a more capable lead. Overall, it's an entertaining journey with a few black marks that make it less than it could've been.

Nostalgia is the only redeeming quality in this film. The characters are blasé. The story is somewhat inventive but it seems like a modified take on Toy Story. Overall I didn't hate it but I wouldn't watch it again.

The things I loved about this movie don't seem to hold up to the test of time.

Abysmal acting on almost all fronts. Charlize Theron does play a wonderfully wicked queen though.
