While I didn't really expect much from this film, what from the things I had heard over the years, it was still shockingly disappointing. The complete and utter lack of energy from the filmmaking and (most of the) performances is so strange to see in a Wes Anderson film. My usual criticisms of Anderson's work, (sterile composition, uneven pacing, bad casting, etc.), still apply here, but they're sort of irrelevant because it doesn't even seem like he's putting in an effort here.
