Dog Day Afternoon 1975 ★★★★½

Rewatched May 31, 2012

Between Serpico and Network (not too shabby in their own rights), Sydney Lumet directed this classic. Watching it is like taking a master class in plot and character development, and building and relieving tension through editing and pacing. It's also just a gripping story, with one of the best surprise twists in film history. And was Pacino ever better?
