Watched the Director's Cut for the first time today. Had never seen the film before, only heard that the DC is supposed to be that much better. It started off well and I even thought Orlando Bloom was pretty decent. But the film slowly started to lose me. There's just too many characters for the plot to handle. The place of several characters within the world is poorly handled and their motivations are never fully clear. As the film goes on Bloom turns out to be a poor lead as well. I just couldn't care for him (or any of the other characters). The film looks great mainly because of the setting and the costumes, but Scott's direction is nothing to write home about. A fairly forgettable film. I really wonder how bad the theatrical cut is. This should've been a miniseries instead. It was fun to see a couple of Game of Thrones actors though.
