Indeed ! Loved every bit of it.
One of my favorite theater experiences was watching the Grindhouse double-bill. The audience reactions was just icing in the cake.
@Colin the dude I saw Grindhouse in a sold out theater and the audience reaction mad it one of the best times I've ever had at the cinema.
It can't be said enough how brilliant Kurt Russell is in this. Perfect casting as usual, Tarantino.
Oh yeah his reactions to getting his ass handed to him by those chicks is fucking hilarious. The scene where he screams like a girl kills me every time.
This conversation really, really makes me want to rewatch it. A Quentin marathon is calling when Django comes out!
Yeah me to! I'm really excited about Django because Tarantino hasn't made a bad film yet in my opinion.
Man, Death Proof is so underrated! I'm glad to see it getting some much-deserved love. And yes, Kurt Russel is brilliant.
@Richard I agree it's very underrated. The people I've spoken to that don't like it can't handle the first half with all the dialogue. Those type of people tend to need something blowing up every couple of minutes to enjoy a film though ; )
I thought the chase was pretty ordinary. It's got nothing on The Seven-Ups, The French Connection, Ronin, To Live and Die in L.A., Terminator 2, The Lineup, The Road Warrior, Vanishing Point, Dirty Mary Crazy Larry, etc. Tarantino himself would agree.
@Ryan out of the films I've seen that you mention I liked the chase in Death Proof better because I just found the whole thing to be hilarious.
I enjoy dead proof, but Tarantino sell the film saying "he was making the best car chase ever put on film".. the guy didn't deliver.. Ryan, Vanishing Point car chase bad-ass!!!
Lets just agree Russell makes up for any slack the already-cool car chase was lacking.
@Ryan I kinda disagree about the chase. Even though most chases you mentioned are pretty amazing, This has more car on car action and pretty insane stuff. Ronin did have an amazing chase , but its more traffic maneuvering. This was one car banging the shit out of the other. More like sex between cars. It was exciting and a tad bit funny.That's the reason i say i love it.
All being said Ronin, Vanishing Point & terminator 2 are in my top 5 car chases ever. As for the rest i haven't seen. I'l be checking them out for sure though. Thank you.
Vanishing point had me in so caught up in it. It was simply superb. Making a movie with only car chase over the entire length of the movie and still making it interesting, not an easy job.
@Colin the dude I agree. He did make up for the missing piece of action.
@Ron it was a great experience. Loved every bit of it. A pointed out the chase coz i'm a lil crazy about cars/motorcycles and i'd watch any shitty movie if it has a decent chase or just cool cars/motorcycles/SBikes.
@Riichard Yes, it a tab bit underrated. Especially every one comparing it with Planet Terror , which i didn't like at all.
p.s : I don't enjoy gore.
@javier Vanishing point chase is indeed bad-ass. have you heard the " Audioslave - Show me how to live " ? That was the reason i decided to watch it in the first place.
